Territories Zero Waste Zero Gaspillage in Burgundy-Franche-Comté

The calls for projects “Territories zero waste, zero waste”, launched by the Ministry of the Environment and promoted by ADEME, aim to identify and support local and regional authorities that are committed to an ambitious approach to the prevention, reuse and recycling of their waste. These territories are thus operationally declining the progress of the energy transition law for green growth in the circular economy.The mobilisation of territories is an essential condition for moving towards a circular economy.153 territories have been named winners in two successive calls for projects (58 territories at the end of 2014, and 95 territories at the end of 2015). They have a total of 33.7 million inhabitants.The territories that choose to embark on a “Zero waste zero waste territory” approach are mobilising to define and implement action programmes to improve waste management on a daily basis, drawing on a specification setting out the objectives of the energy transition law for green growth.These territories take a strong political commitment, for a period of 3 years, to seek exemplarity and to mobilise resources to achieve it.The approach is participatory: it necessarily involves mobilising all stakeholders (associations, businesses, citizens, administrations, businesses, etc.).Zero waste zero waste territories benefit from specific support from the Ministry of the Environment via the Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe), which makes available to them: its technical expertise; financial support to facilitate the process; priority and enhanced investment aid.
