Sound classification of roadways in Burgundy-Franche-Comté
Description
Sound classification and right-of-way of roadways in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Pursuant to Article 13 of Law No 92 1444 of 31 December 1992, land transport infrastructure is classified into 5 categories according to the noise level they generate, category 1 being the loudest. An area affected by noise is defined on both sides of each classified infrastructure. A noise sector is an area that extends on both sides of a classified infrastructure with a maximum width of 300 metres. The width of the sector depends on its category. This area is intended to cover the whole territory where enhanced acoustic insulation (the noise levels to be achieved within the dwellings are 35 dB(A) by day and 30 dB(A) by night) of new constructions (housing, education, health, care, social work and tourist accommodation) will be needed. It can be reduced if justified, due to the configuration of the places, as is often the case in the streets called “U”. This layer represents the perimeters chosen around the road infrastructure concerned by the regulation of noise management in the environment.
