Surface Water Masses in Burgundy-Franche-Comté (MESU)
Description
Identification of surface water bodies located in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region and its surroundings (in particular part of departments 88 and 52 on which DREAL BFC manages some stations). These MESUs correspond to the elementary division of aquatic environments intended to be the assessment unit of the Water Hard Framework Directive (WFD). A surface water body is a distinct and significant part of surface water, such as a lake, reservoir, river, river or canal, part of a river, river or canal, transitional water or a portion of coastal water. For rivers, the delimitation of water bodies is based mainly on the size of the watercourse and the concept of hydro-ecoregion.
