Municipalities classified by the Littoral Law in Burgundy-Franche-Comté (department of Jura only concerned) in relation to the municipalities on 1 January 2017.The 13 municipalities concerned are the municipalities riparian of bodies of water greater than 1 000 ha, namely Lake Vouglans.The awareness of the economic importance of the coastline and the multiple covetousness of which it is the subject has made the intervention of a higher legal standard responsible for arbitrating between the multiple uses of the coastline indispensable. It is in this spirit that the Coastal Law was passed on 3 January 1986. Applicable to the metropolitan and overseas coasts, salt ponds and inland water bodies of more than 1000 hectares, the Coastal Law combines principles, sometimes contradictory, of development, protection and enhancement of the coastline with the objectives of: preserve rare and sensitive spaces, manage space consumption in an economical way through urbanisation and tourist facilities in particular, open the shore more widely to the public, such as beaches, in order to welcome, as a priority on the coast, activities whose development is linked to the sea.
