Location of dams in Burgundy-Franche-Comté
Description
Location of dams extracted from SIOUH2 (Information System on Hydraulic Works) extracted in January 2024. Data provided by the inter-regional hub in charge of hydraulic works at DREAL BFC (based in Besançon). The class of dams is defined in Articles R214-112 and 113 of the Environmental Code. In summary, dams are classified as follows: Class A dams: the largest dams, with a height of more than 20 metres \- Class B dams: dams with a height of between 10 and 20 metres \- Class C dams: dams more than 5 metres high, or 2 metres with downstream stakes and a large volume \- Class D dams: class removed from the regulation in 2015. There are still a few Class D dams that are intended to be downgraded or reclassified to Class C.
