Description
The issue of visas to foreigners includes short-stay Schengen visas, valid for the metropolis and sometimes for the overseas departments and, with few exceptions, for the territory of all other Schengen States, as well as long-stay visas valid for the metropolis and the overseas departments.
The number of visas applied for and issued in 2019 is down (-0.1 % and -1.0 % respectively) compared to 2018.
Short-stay Schengen visas are visas valid for the European territory of France and, with few exceptions, for the territory of all other Schengen States.
In 2009, a long-stay visa exempted from applying for a residence permit in the prefecture was created, the VLS-TS.
Long-stay visas now include visas corresponding to the new “talent passport” residence ground in force since 1 November 2016.
The number of visas issued for the DOM-CTOM is small compared to the total number of visas issued (0.8 %). 2019 was up (+ 4.0 %) after four consecutive years of decline.
