EM 2020-46 Asylum applications as of 21 January 2020
Description
In 2019, 132 614 applications were registered with OFPRA, including 123 530 applications (including accompanying minors) and 9,084 reviews. 95 577 decisions, excluding accompanying minors, were taken by OFPRA, an increase of 2.1 % compared to 2018. OFPRA took 22,532 agreement decisions compared to 24,613 in 2018. In 2019, the CNDA issued 66,466 decisions, a very strong increase of 40.5 % in the number of decisions compared to 2018. This is due to the very large stock at the end of 2018, linked to a strike. In total, the number of decisions granting protection status (refugee and subsidiary protection, excluding accompanying minors) taken by OFPRA and CNDA stood at 36,512 in 2019, up 9.5 % compared to the total positive decisions of 2018. This is due to the much larger volume of decisions rendered by the CNDA.
