Areas of study of riparian vegetation (2017) — Observatory Selune
Description
The study is based on the observation of spontaneous plant communities colonising newly detonated vases at different temporal (intra- and inter-annual) and interlinked spatial scales. The botanical inventory is based on the Braun-Blanquet method.
The sampling protocol is stratified to maximise the diversity identified. For each study area, a transect perpendicular to the river bed is set up, where strips parallel to the stream are spotted in the field according to the rate of exondation. Within each of the bands (which have a homogeneous appearance of vegetation), 3 replicates of 1 x 1 m and spaced 1 m are demarcated. All quadrat species were identified and their abundance was estimated.
