Biosphere area Black Forest

The spatial data set contains the scope of the “Black Forest” biosphere area, divided into a core zone, a care zone and a development zone. The city district of Freiburg is covered by the biosphere area in about 14 % of the urban area, with about 65 % attributable to the Kappel district and about 35 % to Freiburg. Of the 14 % of the affected Freiburg urban area, about 85 % are in the development zone and about 15 % in the care zone of the protected area. The Black Forest biosphere area was officially established in February 2016 by the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection (MLR) Baden-Württemberg.
