The Very Large Research Infrastructures (TGIR)
Description
At the request of the Senate, the Court investigated the Very Large Research Infrastructures (TGIR). They accumulated EUR 4.2 billion in resources between 2012 and 2017. While positive momentum has been initiated and continued since the Court’s last recommendations in 2009, room for progress remains in order to establish a national strategy and adapt the steering of TGIRs, while the new European Horizon Europe programme is looming. Three axes are identified: rethinking the definition of research infrastructures, strengthening their strategic and operational management, and improving financial information to enable informed choices. The Court makes eleven recommendations to that effect.
