Natural monuments in Saxony, linear
Description
The data set contains the natural monuments (ND) recorded linearly as a result of their expansion in the Free State of Saxony. According to the Saxon Nature Conservation Act (SächsNatSchG) and § 28 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG), natural landscape features and individual creations of nature or corresponding areas of up to five hectares, the special protection of which is necessary for scientific, historical or regional reasons, or because of their rarity, peculiarity or beauty, are legally binding. Natural monuments can, for example, be individual trees, tree groups and avenues, geological formations or natural history testimonies. The protection purpose can also include natural history or regional cultural values. Land natural monuments can in particular be biotopes that are particularly protected under § 30 BNatSchG in conjunction with § 21 SächsNatSchG or which are habitats of particularly endangered animal or plant species. The close interlocking of such biotopes can be a special reason for underprotection. For each natural monument, the geographical name is listed.
