Description
Update of the mapping of zones vulnerable to nitrate pollution under Order 7 of July 2009 (joint order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of the Environment), amending Decree 36/2008 of 5 February, designating vulnerable zones and establishing measures against pollution by nitrates from agricultural sources.
Two new zones are added: zone 23 (Condado), zone 24 (Porcuna) and zone 2 is extended with polygon 98 of the Municipality of Carmona, Province of Seville (SIGPAC reference 2008). These vulnerable zones are defined in the decree as those areas whose runoff or leaks with contributions of nitrates of organic origin can affect inland waters, both surface and underground. For its designation, the reports of the different Andalusian hydrological organisms on the bodies of water with risks of this type of contamination have been taken into account. From the technical point of view, the delimitation has been carried out using the Geographic Information System for the Identification of Agricultural Plots (SIGPAC, version 2008), based on polygons (enclosures for agricultural use and intensive livestock farms), much more precise than that of municipal terms provided for in the 1998 decree. In 2013 the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development and the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning are reviewing this information for updating.
