The Court of Auditors publishes its annual report on the application of social security financing laws.
The social security deficit and social debt continued to narrow in 2017.
The national health insurance expenditure target (Ondam) has been met for the eighth consecutive year. All branches have seen their balances improve, with the notable exception of health insurance, which concentrates almost all of the deficit.
As the improvement observed in 2017 is entirely cyclical, the return to balance of social security planned for 2019 needs to be consolidated by structural measures, in particular on health insurance expenditure.
