Digital Model of Solar Incidence. Andalusia
Description
The Digital Model of Solar Incidence, monthly or annual, of 10 m of resolution and elaborated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment (2008), stores for each point of the terrain the sum, monthly or annual, of the values of the solar incidence calculated by means of the exact recreation of the trajectory of the sun on the surface of the terrain. The units of this value are hours, transformable to energy by multiplying by the direct net radiation received by the surface of the ground. It cannot be considered an index, since it has dimension, but rather corresponds to a ratio or proportion of effective energy that reaches the ground, depending on the latitude, date of the year for the monthly models, and orography. This index replaces and integrates the classic values of orientation and exposure, or insolation index of Sánchez Palomares that do not take into account the slope, latitude and real trajectory of the sun and shadow projection. The information content consists of 13 raster layers: the one corresponding to the annual solar incidence (units: hours/year) and 12 layers relative to the monthly solar incidence (units: hours/month).
