Description

Knowledge of transverse structures in rivers is an essential basis for fulfilling the reporting obligations under the EC Water Framework Directive as well as for water management. Transverse structures include all structures artificially introduced into the water, running across the water bed, which influence the natural flow conditions and thus also the bottom and bank structure of the water.The construction category ‘artificial objects in the river bed’ includes bottom sleepers, bottom glides, falls as well as measuring structures and outlet/extraction structures.The construction category ‘dams and weirs’ includes fixed weirs and dams, movable weirs as well as mills and hydropower plants.The construction category ‘seals, ladles and temporary barriers’ includes siels, ladders and pumping stations as well as barrier works and verges.The construction category ‘locks’ includes locks and ship lifts.The construction category ‘transit structures’ includes various forms of fish ladders (FA), bypassages and fish descents. The provision takes place via the Federal Institute for Hydrology (BfG) via display and download service, whose URLs are specified in the transfer options.
