Carbon sink survey in the Helsinki metropolitan area
Description
The dataset contains a comprehensive spatial data set for the Helsinki metropolitan area and a final report on the report. The data was produced by Simosol Oy on the basis of a joint procurement by HSY, Espoo, Helsinki, Kauniainen and Vantaa.
The spatial data set shall contain for each vegetation object the amounts of carbon contained in soil and vegetation, converted into carbon dioxide per hectare, and the total amount of carbon dioxide contained in that area (i.e. carbon pools). In addition, the data presents the flux of carbon dioxide, i.e. whether the area absorbs or releases carbon dioxide.
The carbon balance was modelled using urban forest resource data, the Finnish Forest Centre's forest resource data, the results of the National Forest Inventory and HSY's regional land cover data, as well as the management categories of green areas received from cities.
The material has been published in the ETRS-GK25 coordinate system (EPSG:3879). The missing information is marked 999999.
