Description

The Canada Energy Regulator’s (CER) Canada’s Energy Future 2026: Cost and Performance Parameters for Electricity Generation and Storage Technologies dataset provides the assumptions underpinning the electricity sector projections in Canada’s Energy Future 2026: Energy Supply and Demand Projections to 2050. The dataset includes cost and performance parameters for electricity generation and storage technologies across all Canadian provinces and territories. Also, the data is available by all scenarios and projection years in Canada’s Energy Future 2026. It contains capital costs, operating costs, connection costs, efficiency, construction timelines, facility lifetimes, and carbon capture performance where applicable. These parameters are developed by CER staff using a combination of Canadian and international data sources and are adjusted to reflect regional conditions, technology characteristics, and scenario-specific assumptions. By publishing these inputs, the CER supports transparency in its modelling and provides users with the information needed to better understand, reproduce, and analyze the energy futures explored in Canada’s Energy Future 2026.
