Policy for people with autism spectrum disorders
Description
The Court assessed public policy towards people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), at the request of the National Assembly’s Public Policy Review and Evaluation Committee. ASD, whose prevalence rate reaches around 1% of the population, has gradually become a public health issue and has been the subject of successive plans since 2005 to disseminate knowledge and upgrade the provision of care and support. Knowledge of ASD, although progressing, is still lacking and needs to be improved. Progress in the care of children and especially adults is still insufficient. Finally, the methodology of the plans deployed must better articulate the interventions of the different actors and better mobilise the available tools, in the service of a reinforced objective of inclusion. The Court makes eleven recommendations to this effect.
