Local public finances 2017
Description
The Court of Auditors publishes its fifth annual report on the financial situation and management of local and regional authorities. This report, addressed to Parliament and the Government, is the result of joint work with the Regional Audit Chambers (RACs).
Local public administrations, which account for 18% of public expenditure, are affected, in the same way as the State and social security bodies, by compliance with France’s European commitments to improve its public accounts.
In 2016, their expenditure decreased by 1.1% while their revenue increased by 0.2%. For the second year in a row, they posted financing capacity, which reached €4.2 billion after €1.1 billion in 2015, reflecting an improvement in their financial situation.
