Characteristic reference flow rates

Description

Mapping of reference flow rates (QMNA5: five-yearly dry monthly flow rate, and module rated QA: average interannual flow rate) is the result of spatial interpolation work. The proposed values have no regulatory scope unless validated on a case-by-case basis by the water police for specific cases. It is based on a national methodology using several models and reflects the state of knowledge at the end of 2012. However, it contains errors whose origins can be multiple: imperfect methods, biased data, complexity of local hydrologies, human-related disturbances, inconsistency in the layout of the hydrographic network and certain HYDRO sub-areas, etc. It is not intended to replace more precise estimates made locally, to which reference should be made as a matter of priority where they exist. The mapping tool was therefore designed to provide decision support.
