Study on the equipment and uses of SMEs and midcaps

Description

In its strategic review, Arcep identified the market for electronic communications services for businesses as one of its priorities. In particular, one of the twelve projects identified for 2016/2017, entitled ‘Connected SMEs’, aims to foster the emergence of a mass fibre market for SMEs. With a view to increasing its knowledge of the market for businesses, Arcep mandated Ifop to carry out a study to quantify the uses and problems encountered in electronic communications by businesses, in particular those related to barriers to migration, and to identify possible market malfunctions. The study also aims, more broadly, to better assess the needs of SMEs / midcaps in terms of electronic communications services and their perception of this market (satisfaction of needs, available offers, modifications or changes of contracts or operators). In June 2016, the FIFG carried out a survey of a representative sample of 1002 telecoms decision-makers in French SMEs with 6 to 499 employees, whose representativeness was ensured by quotas in terms of the size and sector of the companies interviewed.
