Description
INSPIRE version of the BFD50. The soil overview map in scale 1:50.000 (BK50) provides an overview of the distribution of soil and soil-forming substrates for the entire area of Rhineland-Palatinate. The near-surface subsurface is depicted to a depth of two metres. Due to the scale, the legend units of the soil map are composed of soil form societies (BFG), which are described via several use-differentiated soil forms (BF). Documentation of methods:The suitability of a site for the production of plant biomass is determined by the factors soil, climate and relief. The site-specific yield potential describes the property of the soil, which - with reasonable effort in terms of technology, economy and ecology - sustainably guarantees productivity. A characteristic that is suitable for describing and classifying the edaphic properties of a site in terms of yield potential, regardless of the form and intensity of management, is the 'useful field capacity in rootable soil space (NFKDB)'. The potential groundwater influence of a site, which can affect productivity, is derived from the digital soil area data. Basic-wet to very basic-wet as well as very strong to extremely basic-wet locations are combined into one class. The base budget is of particular importance for forestry crops. The yield potential is classified on the basis of the NFKDB and the potential influence of groundwater.
