Animal Assistance Foundation
Description
On 21 July 2016, the Court of Auditors published a report drawn up pursuant to Article L. 111-8 of the Code of Financial Jurisdictions on the Animal Assistance Foundation, a body which calls on public generosity. Created in 1989 and with the social objective of ensuring the defence and protection of animals, the Foundation participates in actions to safeguard animals that have been abused or abandoned by their owners. The Court considers that, in the financial years 2011 to 2014 which it audited, donors were not properly informed during calls for public generosity of the use made of their donations. While the Foundation stressed in these calls the urgency of action on behalf of animals, the organisation’s own funds and reserves have increased by 45% in four years, without donors being notified. At the end of its review, the Court therefore finds that the use of the funds collected is not consistent with the objectives pursued by the call for public generosity.
