‘Optimouv’: travel optimisation software in the organisation of sports meetings
Description
As part of COP21, the Optimouv scheme was officially launched on 4 December 2015 by the Secretary of State for Sports, Thierry BRAILLARD.
The aim of this tool is to reduce the number of kilometres travelled by clubs and practitioners without reducing the number of sporting events. It is a decision support tool to propose scenarios for organising sports meetings that optimise travel.
With more than 2.5 million sports events each year or 50,000 per week, the possible economy is far from negligible and would thus allow an economic approach with lower transport costs, a health approach with the decrease in fatigue related to transport, an optimisation of practice time compared to transport time and finally an environmental approach with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Optimouv software offers solutions for organisations of competitions by choosing the meeting place optimised for travel while taking into account the sporting constraints. This IT tool is a decision support tool available to all sports bodies organising competitions and gatherings, federations, regional leagues, departmental committees in particular.
The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and the Ministry of Sports, in partnership with ADEME and WWF, have collaborated in the study and development of this tool. Discover the presentation video on http://www.ffbb.com/video-optimouv-quest-ce-que-cest
