Description
The "DFCI carroyage" is a system of geographical mesh used in France by the actors of the Defense of Forests Against Fires (DFCI). The metropolitan territory is covered by squares of 100 km side, identifiable by two letters. Each square of 100 km is divided into 25 squares of 20 km side, numbered by even digits from 0 to 8. Each 20 km square is divided into 100 2 km squares, numbered by a group consisting of a letter and a number. The elementary unit is a 2-kilometre square, defined by 6 characters (example: KD42F7). To designate a point within the elemental unit, precision is obtained by dividing this square into five zones numbered from 1 to 5.
It was created on a grid based on the extended Lambert II projection. Since 2009, it has been re-designed in Lambert 93 with a slight deformation of the angles and surfaces.
Carroyage DFCI (2 km): Each 20 km square is divided into 100 2 km squares, numbered by a group consisting of a letter and a number. The squares of 2 km are called from A to L (except I and J) for the abscissas, and numbered from 0 to 9 for the ordinates.
