VD 1 - Traffic of German heavy goods vehicles (VD) - Annual traffic volume

Description

The table collection VD1 represents the traffic volume (load and empty runs) of German goods vehicles (lorries over 3.5 t payload and tractors) and is part of the annual performance statistics. The number of journeys, distance travelled, weight of goods, transport capacity and degree of utilisation are shown. The product classification is based on vehicle, driving and loading characteristics and includes permissible maximum mass, payload, type of vehicle and bodywork, emission class, holder group, year of first registration, number of axles, engine power, main traffic relationship, distance steps, type of journey, container size and combination, shape of the load, goods compartment and dangerous goods class. The geographical breakdown is by federal state (country of registration of the motor vehicle). The annual traffic volume is presented in detail for total traffic, inland traffic (local, regional and long-distance), international traffic, commercial traffic and own account traffic. Monthly key data on load and empty runs are shown in addition. The data collection for road haulage statistics is carried out as a sample survey in accordance with the National Transport Statistics Act (VerkStatG) and European Regulation (EU) 70/2012.
