Driving performance survey 2014

Description

National mileage survey 2014 The survey of national mileage was carried out largely identically to the previous survey from 2002. For a stratified sample of vehicles, the mileage is collected over a defined period of time by means of a two-time speedometer reading. By extrapolating to the full year and the total stock of vehicles registered in the central vehicle register, average and total driving performances can be determined. From this, detailed results can be derived both on the status and on the development of the driving performance of motor vehicles registered in Germany. All types of motor vehicles were included in the analyses, from mopeds to tractor units (not included are, among other things, agricultural tractors and vehicles of the Federal Police and the Federal Armed Forces). For the first time, reliable performance indicators were also determined for vehicles with alternative drives and energy sources (such as electric or hybrid) as well as for vehicles used in the context of new transport offers (such as long-distance buses).
Inland mileage survey Based on an innovative survey methodology for traffic censuses with combined use of radar and video technology, a comprehensive survey of traffic on the road network of the Federal Republic of Germany was carried out to collect the ‘domestic mileage’. This includes all road classes, covers all day and seasons and thus makes it possible for the first time to break down the mileage provided in the German road network by individual road classes and local locations (urban, extra-urban) as well as by the type and nationality of the vehicles.
