Subjective perception and communication of green spaces in social media (Großer Garten, Dresden)

Description

The dataset contains several shapefiles for the representation of a perceptual heat map for green-related terms in the area of the Great Garden in Dresden. In order to demonstrate the suitability of social media data for urban and landscape planning, a new methodology was developed as a use case for the web portal meinGrün in order to quickly map a rough overview of the spatial patterns of terms communicated in social media. In this respect, the visualization method is particularly suitable for assessing perceived and online communicated qualities in an area. A combination of different terms can be used to analyze specific topic contexts. In the example Shapefile for the Great Garden, the combination of the terms "grass, nature, park" was used to assess the suitability gap for perceived and nature-related qualities in the park. Thus, it can be seen on the map that the Botanical Garden is an essential focus for qualities related to this conceptual canon. Also in the rear, rather openly designed western part of the Great Garden are important focal points, with selective clusters along Lake Carola and on the shore of the New Pond. The data bases and calculation rules used are documented in the metadata description.
