* * The National Inventory of Natural Heritage * * is the [portal] (https://inpn.mnhn.fr) of French biodiversity and geodiversity, metropolitan France and overseas regions. It disseminates knowledge of animal, plant and fountain species, natural environments, protected areas and geological heritage. All these reference data, validated by networks of experts, are made available to all, professionals, amateurs and citizens. This portal is part of the Biodiversity Information System and the Natural Heritage Inventory Information System and is part of the [Naturefrance] ecosystem (https://naturefrance.fr/). * * managed by [UMS PatriNat] (https://www.patrinat.fr/fr) on behalf of [OFB] (https://ofb.gouv.fr/), [CNRS] (http://www.cnrs.fr/fr/page-daccueil) and [MNHN] (https://www.mnhn.fr/fr), this inventory is the result of an approach involving scientists, local and regional authorities, naturalists and associations with a view to establishing a diagnosis of the natural heritage in France. * * Observation and monitoring data on species are provided by partners, organised, validated and disseminated at national and international level, in particular through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility ([GBIF] (https://www.gbif.org/)). The INPN is a key feature of the Natural Heritage Inventory Information System (SINP), for which it acts as a national platform, and the National Biodiversity Observatory (ONB) by enabling the production of numerous indicators. The SINP is a partnership scheme between the Ministry responsible for Ecology, public institutions, associations, local authorities and any actor involved in the production of naturalist data. This system organises the exchange of data in order to make it freely available free of charge, thus meeting the various nature conservation challenges. Species observation and monitoring data can be accessed via the INPN functionality [OpenObs] (https://openobs.mnhn.fr), which allows data to be accessed and downloaded.
