Water supply concept Lower Saxony 1: 500000 – Use pressure for the viewing time 2050 at medium conditions for groundwater bodies
Description
The Lower Saxony water supply concept serves the overarching objective of ensuring the long-term supply of water in Lower Saxony, in particular the public water supply as a key component of services of general interest. Water supply needs to be further developed in line with current and regional challenges and in line with sustainable groundwater management. For this purpose, it is necessary for policy makers and water authorities as well as for the users of the resource to identify needs for action at an early stage in order to take measures necessary in due time to ensure long-term water supply in Lower Saxony. The Lower Saxony water supply concept is a necessary national information framework. As a technical concept, it serves water users, licensing authorities and the country for water management and the public as a transparent and future-oriented information and planning basis. Requirements for individual procedures are explicitly not the objective.
Within the framework of the water supply concept, the current status (reference year 2015) as well as the medium and long-term developments of the Lower Saxony water supply are assessed. Here, the groundwater supply for medium and dry conditions and the water needs of the relevant groundwater users are compared at different times (2015, 2030, 2050 and 2100).
The methodology of the Lower Saxony water supply concept was carried out on a grid-based basis. For this purpose, a 500 x 500 m grid was created, which extends across the whole of Lower Saxony and Bremen. Nationwide data bases used to plan current and future groundwater management have been transferred to the grid. These formed the basis of the calculations, evaluations and final presentations carried out.
