4.2 million social assistance benefits awarded by departments in 2014

At the end of 2014, the departments allocated 4.2 million social assistance benefits to the elderly, persons with disabilities, children or integration. In one year, this number increased by 3 %, due in particular to the 4 % increase in the number of recipients of the Active Solidarity Income (RSA) base and the number of aids for people with disabilities (+ 5 % in 2014). The number of elderly support increased by 1 % in 2014, a slower growth than that observed between 2009 and 2013.
There are 2 million social assistance benefits allocated under the inclusion, mainly covering the payment of the RSA base.
The number of benefits for the elderly is 1.4 million. The Personalised Independence Allowance includes 1.25 million, of which 738,000 are for people residing in their homes. Persons with disabilities receive 484,000 benefits, more than half of which are allocated to the disability compensation benefit.
Finally, 323 600 measures of social assistance for children (SEAs) concern children under the age of 21. In 2014, there were as many children welcomed under ESA as those attended in the context of educational activities at home or in an open environment.
