Reference doses for frequency indicator of phytosanitary treatments

Description

The Phytosanitary Treatment Frequency Index (PTI) is an indicator for monitoring the use of plant protection products at the farm or farm group level. The IFT is expressed as ‘number of reference doses per hectare’ applied to a spatial unit over a given period of time. Most generally, the spatial unit is the plot and the period of the cultural campaign. More information at http://agriculture.gouv.fr/indicateur-de-frequence-de-traitements-phytosanitaires-ift Reference doses are the common input data for the calculation of the IFT. There are two types of reference doses: the reference doses defined at the target, i.e. for each product, culture, target or function targeted by the treatment; the reference doses defined for the crop, i.e. for each product and crop. The reference doses defined in the target provide a more accurate TFI that better reflects agricultural practices. They are therefore preferred, but presuppose that the target of treatment is known. The procedures for defining the reference doses and for the use in the calculation of the IFT are detailed in the methodological guide. The reference dose lists are specific to each crop year. They are published by the Ministry of Agriculture. They are of value only for the calculation of the IFT, without prejudice to the regulations in force concerning approved products and uses. The Ministry in charge of Agriculture makes these data available as well as the calculation function of the IFT within the IFT Calculation Workshop.
