Data set from the Haute-Loire hydrological observatory
Description
The subject of study of the Haute Loire observatory was the impact of the maintenance of river vegetation and dead wood on biological communities and the morphology of rivers. This study started in 1999 and concluded in 2002.
Two measuring stations were followed: on the Cronce, tributary of the Allier and the Doulon, sub-affluent of the Allier.
On each watercourse, three representative sectors of the section (about 1 km in length) were demarcated:
an “ember sector”, where the dead wood accumulated in the bed was removed;
a ‘ripisylve sector’, where, conversely, the intervention was carried out solely on river vegetation;
finally, “a control area”, on which no intervention was carried out during the duration of the study.
