Jobs and salaries in the hospital sector in 2012

In 2012, the hospital sector had 1.2 million full-time equivalent positions, mostly occupied by women, who were mainly in the public sector. Between 2009 and 2012, wage employment increased by an average of 1.2 % per year in public institutions, which was lower in the private sector, whether for-profit or not (+ 0.8 %). In 2013, the dynamism of employment was confirmed in the public sector (+ 1.1 %).
Salaries in the public sector are on average higher than in the private sector. The average wage per capita in constant euros in the hospital sector decreased in 2012. This decline is more pronounced in private institutions, whether for-profit or non-profit (-1 %), than in public hospitals (-0.6 %).
Considering only the average remuneration of existing people (RMPP) for 24 months in the same establishment on the same post, with the same work quotity to correct the effects of entry and exit of staff, remuneration fell slightly in 2012 in constant euros, again more significantly in the private sector (-0.6 %) than in the public sector (-0.1 %).
However, in 2013, due to lower inflation, the evolution of the RMPP returned to positive (+ 0.7 %) in public hospitals.
