Draix-Bléone Observatory for Hydrology and Erosion in Mountains
Description
The Draix-Bléone Observatory was created in 1983 to study hydrological and erosive processes in the mountains. It is located in the Southern Alps, on a substrate of very erodible black marl, and characterized by a mountain and Mediterranean climate. Seven watersheds have been equipped for the measurement of solid and liquid flows. These basins cover areas ranging from 0.1 ha to several tens of km2, with various vegetation cover, lithologies and topographies. The available data are rainfall and weather data (temperature, humidity, radiation, wind), flow chronics at the outlet of the monitored basins, suspended matter flows and deposits of coarse materials for each flood.
