Description
The number of CRA seats from 1,817 to 30 August 2013 was reduced to 1,755 (including 1,571 in metropolitan France and 184 overseas) after the neutralisation, as of 1 January 2014, of 62 places at the CRA in Nîmes, implemented at the end of the reflection on the mapping of CRAs.
In accordance with the guidelines of the European Directive of 16 December 2008 (“Return Directive”), prefects have been invited since 2013 to use the procedure of house arrest, preferably that of detention, whenever the foreigner presents sufficient guarantees of representation. This policy is beginning to bear fruit and the number of house arrest decisions increased from 904 in 2012 to 1,618 in 2013.
**Reading note:**
The number of detentions of accompanying minors increased from 98 in 2012 to 41 in 2013, a significant decrease of 58 %.
