15034 — Visas issued for family reunification
Description
The number of visas issued in 2009 for family reunification had fallen sharply compared to 2008 (-17.8 %). Although significantly higher in 2012 (+ 5.4 %) compared to 2011, this figure is still well below the peaks in 2007 and 2008.
At least two reasons for this development can be given:
• the extension of the period within which foreign nationals may extend from 12 to 18 months
benefit from family reunification, enshrined in the provisions of the Law of 24 July 2006;
• the modification of the minimum income and housing conditions laid down in the Law of 20 November 2007 for family reunification, which is itself combined with the effects of the economic crisis.
2013 is marked by near stability in the number of visas issued for this purpose.
