15032 — Visas issued to students
Description
After a trend towards stabilisation until 2011 (-0.8 %), 2012 saw a 3.7 % decrease in the number of visas issued to students.
This decrease, amounting to 2,700 visas, was mainly due to the consequences of the Arab Spring, since the decrease for North Africa amounted to 2,467 visas less.
It was also linked to the effects of the circular of 31 May 2011, which restricted access to work for students.
In 2013, however, the implementation of procedural improvements had a positive impact on the processing of student visa applications both quantitatively and qualitatively: overall demand increased by more than 6 %, with the issuance rate increasing by 5 points.
