Description
According to EU Directive 98/70/EC, Member States must verify compliance with the quality standards for fuels and report the results to the European Commission. In Austria, around 8.56 million tonnes of fuel were sold in 2017, of which 6.95 million tonnes (over 81%) were diesel. The Federal Environment Agency analysed samples from 206 petrol stations throughout Germany, with one sample taken per petrol station. The tests of the diesel fuel samples revealed a one-time exceedance of the permissible biodiesel content (FAME content). By contrast, all petrol grades ‘super gasoline’, ‘normal gasoline’ and ‘super plus’ complied with the standards in the reporting year. The maximum value of 10 mg/kg sulphur content for marine fuels to be complied with in accordance with EU Directive 2009/30/EC was not exceeded for any of the six samples analysed.
