At the end of 2011, 502,000 people aged 60 or older living in permanent accommodation received the Personalised Independence Allowance (APA) or Social Assistance à l’Accommodation (ASH) in metropolitan France. The APA partially supports the dependency rate and the ASH, all or part of the accommodation rate. 90,000 people combine APA and ASH.
