Computer and Liberties Correspondents (CIL)
Description
Prior to the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May 2018, the Data Protection Correspondent (CIL) was responsible for ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act within the company, group, association or administration that had designated it.
This designation was optional.
The CNIL publishes the list of private and public bodies that wished to engage in a compliance process by designating a CIL prior to the establishment, by the GDPR, of the [DPO](https://www.cnil.fr/fr/devenir-delegue-la-protection-des-donnees).
