This dataset is now accessible from the data of the Local Plan of Urbanism, it informs the sites classified or registered under the law of May 2, 1930.

The Act of 2 May 1930 provides for the protection of natural monuments and sites whose conservation or preservation is of general interest from an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque point of view.
It comprises two levels of easements:
Classified sites whose heritage value justifies a rigorous preservation policy. Any change in their appearance requires prior authorisation from the Minister for Ecology, or the Prefect of the Department after consulting DREAL, the Architect of Buildings of France and, most often, the Departmental Commission for Nature, Landscapes and Sites.
Listed sites whose quality maintenance requires some monitoring. The works are subject to examination by the Architecte des Bâtiments de France, who has a simple opinion, except for demolition permits where the opinion is in accordance with the law.
Under the responsibility of the Ministry of Ecology, files proposing classification or registration are drawn up by DREAL under the aegis of the Prefect of the Department. Originally limited to specific sites such as waterfalls and rocks, monumental trees, chapels, springs and caverns, the application of the Law of 2 May 1930 extended to large areas forming a coherent landscape such as villages, forests, valleys, gorges and mountain ranges.
