Description
This data contains the results of the experiment Ville Sans Limite which took place on the Ponpignane district in Montpellier in June 2013.
Cities Without Limits is an experiment carried out by an urban planning firm (UFO led by Alain Renk) and the city planning directorate of Montpellier. It is an urban consultation project using a simulation platform of the development of a district to discuss inhabitants and urban planners. The device takes the form of an iPad application which makes it possible to simulate in situ the development of a district along several axes: density (more or less high buildings), green space (more or less trees), sociability (more or less shops and public facilities). Proposals are recorded, analysed statistically and fed into the resulting architectural projects. They also serve as a starting point or support for citizens’ debates. In Montpellier, the first experimental district of this system is Pompignane.
