Protection forest (Articles L141-1 to L143-1 of the Forest Code)
Description
The following may be classified as protective forests in the public interest (L141-1 to L143-1 of the Forestry Code):
- forests whose conservation is recognised as necessary to maintain land on mountains and slopes, to protect against avalanches, erosion and flooding of water and sand;
- woods and forests, regardless of their owners, located on the outskirts of large urban areas, as well as in areas where their maintenance is necessary, either for ecological reasons or for the well-being of the population.
