City of Bochum: Regional Land Use Plan (RFNP) - historical
Description
The cities of Bochum, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Herne, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Oberhausen founded a planning community in 2005 and began preparatory work on the establishment of a joint regional land use plan (RFNP). The planning procedure, which was formally initiated in 2007, was completed in 2009 with the decision of the plan and its approval by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The first RFNP in Germany came into force on 3 May 2010.
The special feature of the RFNP planning tool is that the plan simultaneously assumes the function of a regional plan and a common land use plan.
