Ports - French maritime space
Description
A port is a natural or artificial shelter for ships and boats, located on the coast, a watercourse or a lake open to navigation, equipped with permanent structures and facilities necessary for the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers, goods, or fishing, pleasure activities, and, where appropriate, other facilities associated with maritime or inland waterway traffic (storage, maintenance, repairs, etc.), subject to an order or other regulatory act determining the nature, limits, specifying the modalities and the managing authority and, as the case may be, designating the police authority.
The creation of this repository is the result of a collaboration between IFREMER, SHOM, SAR and ST Sandre.
This dataset includes only sea and river-sea ports and port areas.
