Description
The results of the cantonal elections since 1988 are available at the cantonal level.
Until the 1998 elections, the results were obtained from the Grenoble Sociopolitical Data Bank, of which the Centre de données sociopolitiques [CDSP] (http://cdsp.sciences-po.fr) of Sciences Po took over in 2005. They are aggregated by political trends with more or less detail depending on the election years. From 2001 onwards, the results come from the Ministry of the Interior and are detailed by candidate.
The CDSP has carried out checks on the files, mainly through consistency tests (e.g. comparison of the number of respondents and the sum of votes for each party/candidate), but errors may still exist.
