Description
The results of the parliamentary elections since 1958 are available by constituency. The results of 1986, 1993 and 1997, the first round of 1988 are available per municipality for municipalities with more than 9000 inhabitants, those of the first round of 2012 for all municipalities and the second round of 2012 for municipalities with more than 3500 inhabitants.
From 1958 to 1986, the results are aggregated by political trends with varying degrees of detail. The files were obtained from the Grenoble Sociopolitical Data Bank, of which the Centre de données sociopolitiques (CDSP) of Sciences Po took over in 2005. The files from 2002 to 2012 come from the Ministry of the Interior.
The CDSP has carried out checks on the files, mainly through consistency tests (e.g. comparison of the number of respondents and the sum of votes for each party/candidate), but errors may still exist.
From 1988 onwards, the results are presented raw, i.e. by candidate. The 1988, 1993 and 1997 results were entered from the white papers, however the 1988 and 1993 files could not be completely cleaned up. In particular, empty labels are to be completed from the variable "nuance".
The files from 1997 onwards have been the subject of a clean-up of the names of the political affiliations and codification of the candidates by the CDSP team (the codes are not yet available in the files concerned).
The results for the overseas departments and territories are not available until 1988.
