Advanced Health Indicator IAS® - VACCINATION GRIPPE

Description

### IAS® Influenza vaccination: follow the seasonal flu vaccination campaign in real time **A public health issue** Every year, a seasonal flu vaccination campaign is implemented in France between October and January. Health Insurance invites insured persons targeted by the vaccination recommendations of the High Council of Public Health to be vaccinated by sending a printed form of coverage. These include insured persons over 65 years of age, persons with certain long-term conditions (LTDs), persons with asthma and Broncho Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) (1). Doctors also have a management printout that allows them to prescribe the vaccine to people at risk who have not received a vaccination voucher (obese patients, pregnant women). During the vaccination campaign period, the vaccine is 100% managed for these at-risk populations with a vaccination voucher. A target of 75% vaccination coverage for at-risk groups has been set by the Public Health Act. This objective is not achieved in France. Immunization coverage has even been declining since 2009. For example, only 57% of French people aged 65 and over were vaccinated in 2013-2014 (metropolitan France, OpemHealth.fr estimate). **The objective of IAS®** The objective of the IAS® is to estimate an accurate and reliable vaccination rate in real time and to disseminate this information in Open Data to the public, carers and public health managers. Real-time information makes it possible to react when there is still time. **The IAS® method** The IAS® estimates the vaccination coverage rate of the most numerous at-risk group: persons aged 65 and over. For this age group and for a given campaign, purchases of influenza vaccines from the beginning of September onwards are reported to the population present on the previous 1 January (INSEE data). Vaccine sales data come from 3004 pharmacies representative of pharmacies in metropolitan France (Celtipharm network). [3]. The data are extrapolated to metropolitan France. The information is transmitted anonymously and automatically and published on D+1. Data have been available since 2008. This made it possible, in order to validate the OpenHealth.fr methodology, to calculate the vaccination rates of the last 5 campaigns and to compare them with those estimated by the CNAMTS (2). For the 2009/2010 to 2012/2013 marketing years, the correlation coefficient between the OpenHealth.fr and CNAMTS estimates is 98.9% for those over 65. The correlation is therefore excellent, which validates the IAS methodology. The rates estimated by OpenHealth.fr are on average 2.5% higher than those estimated by the CNAM. This is due to the fact that OpenHealth takes into account purchases not reimbursed by social security. Moreover, the study scopes are different: OpenHealth.fr data are those of purchases in city pharmacies while those of the CNAM are those of reimbursements to insured persons of the General Plan, excluding Local Mutualist Sections. Data from consumer outlets of pharmacies in the CELTIPHARM network. More information about our methods: http://www.openhealth.fr/method http://www.openhealth.fr/ The data is updated daily.
