An approach to quality of life in the territories

Summary:
Around 30 indicators make it possible to understand the quality of life in the various living areas of metropolitan France, areas in which residents use the most common facilities and services.
Eight major types of territories are distinguished: Ile-de-France territories, some affluent but rather unequal and very dense, others in south-west Paris, particularly favoured, except for commuting times; regional metropolises, which have provided and accessible facilities but present certain social difficulties; the peri-urban nature of large, dynamic regional metropolises, which were a little less easy than the previous ones but were more involved in civic life; rather dense territories in an unfavourable situation, mainly in the North-East and South-East; towns and small towns in an intermediate situation in the Paris Basin and to the east; territories around medium-sized cities with many assets in the West and South-West; rather isolated territories, little urbanised, outside the influence of the major poles.
